Beyond Boundaries Project Update

Hello Friends,

Melissa and I would like to give you a quick update on the progress of the Beyond Boundaries Project. Great things are happening! First, we want to thank all of you who have already given towards this project. We have seen an amazing response from our church family and our friends both here in Illinois and around the world. THANK YOU for helping us take this step in order to advance the kingdom of God and go beyond our boundaries! We’re excited to share with you what has taken place since we first announced the Beyond Boundaries Project in August.

On September 8, we officially closed on the new church property, a total of 34 acres along with the building that we plan to renovate. The very next day, a group of volunteers from the church went to work on the lot, mowing and clearing out overgrowth and dead trees. They have done a tremendous amount of work in a short period of time and we are off to a really great start. While continuing to do what we can ourselves in order to get the building and site ready, things are also well under way with the required engineering and architectural planning to get city permits and to begin building and parking lot construction. The Lord has definitely been showing us favor and things are progressing well.

When we launched the project, we set 2 main goals, an immediate goal to fund the renovation costs and an overall goal to pay for the entire project. Things are coming together quickly! We are very excited to announce that we are now at 91 % of reaching our first project goal. So, for the seat goals that we set, 72 seats at $3,200.00 per seat have been paid for and now only 7 more seats at $3,200.00 per seat are remaining to reach our first goal. God is doing exceeding abundantly above all that we could ask or think! Once we reach 100% of our first goal, we will be able to begin full construction and renovations. We are almost there!

Thank you so much for your friendship, prayers and support. We are confident that our best days are just ahead. Together, by the grace of God, we are taking the land!

Much love & blessings,

The Beyond Boundaries Project

Dear Friends & Partners,

Melissa and I would like to share some exciting news with you regarding the church and bring you up to speed on a few recent developments and an opportunity we believe the Lord has brought to us.  Great things are happening!

In January of 2016, the Lord began dealing with us about the future location for our church and, shortly after that, we discovered a piece of land that was for sale in that same area.  We continued to look at it over the course of 2016 but when 2017 began, it seemed like this was something that we needed to pursue.  So, in March of this year, after much prayer, planning and discussion with our board, we decided to make an offer on that property.  The offer was less than their asking price and the seller ultimately decided not to accept our offer… but what happened next is the reason why we’re sharing all of this with you.

The day after they turned down our offer, we received a call about the land immediately next to that property (we didn’t even realize that it was for sale at the time).  As it turned out, this property was bigger, nicer, and it had a building on it!  To make a long story short, after negotiations, we are going to be able to purchase the larger property with the building for about half of what they were asking for the first property!  I believe that this is what I was praying about at the beginning of 2016 and that this property is going to be the future home for our church.

Let me share some more details with you.  The land sits about 5 miles SW from our current location on Route 71 and is visible from Route 126 in Yorkville, not far from Route 47.  The building on site, once renovated, would give us more square footage than our present rented facilities and would enable us to double our sanctuary space.  This would be a great first step in the short term and, with a total of 34 acres, the new property would also allow for much future church growth and expansion.

One reason we are excited about this opportunity is because our current lease expires at the end of February in 2018.  Once we meet our initial goal, we could be in our own building on our own property in a matter of months!  We believe that this is a window of opportunity for our church to go beyond our boundaries.  This is why we are launching the Beyond Boundaries Project.  We believe that the Lord is positioning us to make a greater impact and together, by His unlimited grace, we will take the land… I believe that the Lord is with us and that we are WELL ABLE!

Along with this letter you will find more detailed information about the Beyond Boundaries Project and how you can be a part of it.  We’re simply asking that you pray about supporting this project to help us advance the Kingdom.  We believe that our best days are just ahead!  Thank you so much for your friendship, prayers and support.

Much Love & Blessings!

Joy Restoration | 5 Things to Focus On

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” – Psalm 30:5 KJV

We can go through difficult places in life that can drain our joy, our strength and our peace. Maybe you have recently lost a loved one, experienced health problems or had a serious family situation. All of these things can leave us feeling like our joy is depleted and some even wonder if they could ever experience joy in their life again. The good news is that our God is a God of restoration! He can turn our mourning into dancing, give us beauty for ashes and cause our lives to be sweet again.

“Restore our captivity, O Lord, as the stream-beds in the South are restored by torrents of rain. They who sow in tears shall reap with joyful singing. – Psalm 126:4-5 AMP

God is able to bring restoration to our lives suddenly. Where, one minute, there was sadness and despair but the next minute, because of His restoration power working in our lives, our joy is back even stronger than before. Like a strong rain that brings a sudden flood, God’s rains of restoration can bring sudden joy to our lives. The Bible teaches that the Lord wants you and I to enjoy the life that He has given to us. You may be facing some challenging situations right now, but remember that your Heavenly Father loves you, He is for you and He is able to give you the oil of joy for mourning and a garment of praise for a spirit of heaviness. As you look past your present circumstances to Him and His promises, His restoring power will work in your heart and bring new strength into your life.

“This day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” – Nehemiah 8:10 KJV

God wants you and I to be strong in life. When our joy level is low, our strength level is going to be low as well. So, we must choose to receive the the daily supply of joy that the Lord has for us and let it strengthen us. Proverbs 22:17 says that “a merry heart does good like a medicine.” In other words, as we allow God’s joy to work in our hearts, it affects us in real ways, even emotionally and physically. In another place, Proverbs 15:15, the Bible says that the person who has “a merry heart has a continual feast.” That means that the people who let joy work in their heart will be the ones who ever receive and draw upon God’s gracious provision. So, instead of yielding to despair, worry and fear today, let’s yield to the joy of faith, the joy of the Holy Spirit, the joy of the Lord and the joy of our salvation!

In this video, I share 5 things we can choose to focus on that enable God’s restoration power in our lives. I hope that these things encourage you and help to strengthen your joy!

We love you and we’re praying for you,

Restoration Is Coming!

“For behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will RESTORE…” – Jeremiah 30:3 ESV

God’s people heard this powerful promise of restoration during a time of oppression while being held captive in Babylon. It was a very difficult moment for them and, from a natural standpoint, it looked like there was no hope that things could ever be any different. It was in that hard time that God announced to them that restoration was coming. He wanted them to see beyond their present moment to the restoration plan that He had for them. He wanted them to realize that things weren’t over yet. There were still more chapters to be written in their story… chapters of healing, victory and restoration! Like them, you may have gone through some hard times recently and what you’re facing today might seem impossible to overcome, but know this, the same God Who had a restoration plan for the nation of Israel has a restoration plan for you. Your story isn’t over yet! God is for you and He wants to write a new restoration chapter in the story of your life!

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” – Psalm 30:5 KJV

One of my favorite stories in the Old Testament is found in Genesis, chapters 42 through 45, in the life of Jacob. Toward the end of Jacob’s life, it looked like everything had turned against him and that God’s promises weren’t going to come to pass. He had suffered tragic loss in his family and got to the point where he was facing poverty and starvation. Meanwhile, even though there were many things against him, the Bible reveals that, more importantly, there was someone who was for him! God had been working behind the scenes and had prepared an amazing restoration plan for Jacob. What looked as if it had been lost forever was restored unto him and his last days ended up being the most blessed days of his life.

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” – Romans 8:31 KJV

Could it be that way for you? Remember, you are a child of God and all of His promises belong to you now because of your faith in Jesus. Make up your mind that, by His grace, you’re going to come out of where you are into greater days. Like Jacob, life may be against you, but the Restorer is for you. Put your confidence in Him and expect to see His restoration power in your life. Get ready for things to change in your favor because we believe that your Restoration is coming!

7 Ingredients of the Spirit of Faith

“We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.” – 2 Corinthians 4:13 KJV

It’s time to go where we have never gone before and FAITH in God is how we will get there!

Where you are right now in life isn’t all that there is to your life’s story. The truth is that no matter what you’ve seen so far, your Heavenly Father has more in store for you! I believe that He has new levels for you and I to walk in that are exceeding abundantly above all that we could ask for or even imagine. So, how do we get from where we are to where He wants us to be? How do we rise higher and go to the next level? Like Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Joshua, Caleb & David (just to name a few), we’re going to have to live our lives with a spirit of faith, not the faith of yesterday, but living faith for THIS season of our lives. No matter how impossible it might look, with a spirit of faith we can go to the next level!

We advance and make great progress in life as we stir up and actively employ the spirit of faith, but in order to do so effectively, we’re going to need to use the right ingredients. This past weekend, my oldest daughter, Hannah, baked and then decorated cupcakes for our family (and she did a really great job!). One of the reasons they turned out so good is because she was very careful to add in all of the ingredients that were listed in the recipe. The Lord recently helped me to see seven “ingredients” of the spirit of faith in 2 Corinthians 4:13-18 AMPC. These seven things have greatly encouraged me and I would like to share them with you.

#1. The Spirit of Faith Believes
Our faith is in the faithful God who loves us and He NEVER fails!

#2. The Spirit of Faith Speaks
Don’t be silent in the face of adversity. Instead, boldly declare your faith in God and His Word!

#3. The Spirit of Faith is Assured of Victory
The same One who raised up Jesus, raises us up. No matter what it might look like, we will be victorious!

#4. The Spirit of Faith is Not Discouraged
Don’t quit! Don’t give up! Choose to let go of the past. Today is a new day with new mercy, new grace and new opportunities. Take courage and know that you’re more than a conqueror!

#5. The Spirit of Faith is Not Afraid
Fear not and believe only. God is with you, He loves you, He is for you, and the Greater One lives within you!

#6. The Spirit of Faith is More Aware of the Inward Man than the Outward Man
Remember, you’re a new creation in Christ, old things are passed away and all has become new! Put on the champion that you are now in Him!

#7. The Spirit of Faith Goes Forward, Looking Beyond the Seen to the Unseen
Everything that we see today is temporary and is subject to change. So, don’t be intimidated by what you see. Instead, look with eyes of faith to the eternal plan of your gracious God. That’s what’s established. That’s where you’re headed!

Is faith rising in your heart? Are you stirred about the days ahead? I believe with all of my heart that we’re about to step into some amazing days that will be unlike anything we’ve ever experienced before. So, let’s rise up in this season with fresh faith in our faithful God. Let’s go forward with an attitude of faith, a spirit of faith, believing to see what we’ve never seen before!

Your best days are truly yet to come!

2017: A Year Without Boundaries

Going where we’ve not yet gone & seeing what we’ve not yet seen!

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him”. – 1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT

As we step out of 2016 and into 2017, I just want to take a minute to encourage you to take all of the limits off of what you can experience and accomplish in this new year. Remember, you are “in this world but you are not of this world”, so don’t let your past experiences, or the world around you, to define who you are or where you’re going. You are a child of the most high God! Let your Heavenly Father set the parameters of your life and your future. Let His unlimited promises be the lens through which you see 2017.

This will be a special year for those of us in the Kingdom of God who are following the voice of our Good Shepherd. The Lord, who sees the future clearer than we see the past, is calling us out from where we have been into the great days that He has prepared for us to walk in. I sincerely believe that it’s time for you and I to go where we’ve never gone before and to see what we’ve never seen before in God’s plans and purposes for our lives. I believe that it’s our time to go beyond our previous boundaries, limitations, walls and borders! It’s time to dream big dreams and to believe for great things. It’s time to walk in the fulfillment of our God-given destinies and to experience the full power and provision that our Heavenly Father has made ready for us in this hour.

Let’s decide now to go beyond the boundaries of the past and to believe in our God, with Whom all things are possible. Let’s allow the bigness of His plan for this new year to fill our hearts and our minds and then let’s follow Him out in faith to the places He has prepared for us!

Know that you are precious to us. We are praying that you and your family will have a blessed and peaceful New Year!

Grace & Peace,

3 Things to Consider this Christmas

Pastor Jordan Gash – December 24, 2016

This past week, I had the opportunity to speak at my daughter’s school during their chapel time and I shared with the students three things that we can learn from what happened in Bethlehem on the night that Jesus was born. While there are many more than three things that we can learn, these three stood out to me and I would like to share them with you.

In Micah 5:2, it says “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”  Out of all of the places on earth that Jesus could have been born, He came to the small city of Bethlehem. Not Rome or Athens or Jerusalem, but Bethlehem. God brought His greatness into that small unlikely place and then He brought His greatness out from that place. You might feel small or where you are at in life might seem to be insignificant, but remember, God hasn’t changed. He is the one who makes the seeds in the earth to grow and who multiplied the loaves and fishes to feed the multitudes. He can bring His greatness into your life and, by His grace, out from you can come extraordinary things!

Mary’s husband, Joseph, had a dream and in that dream an angel of the Lord said “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:  “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”–which means, “God with us.”  In the garden of Eden, immediately after Adam sinned, God promised that a Redeemer would come to bring restoration and, throughout the Scriptures, the Lord continued to make promises about the One who would come. Isaiah and Micah prophesied of Jesus birth 700 years before He arrived in Bethlehem that night! Jesus, our Savior, came to us just like God said and that same faithful God has given us His Word and all of His promises are now ours in Christ. No matter how long it’s been or how impossible things might look, put your full trust in His Word and rest assured knowing that your Heavenly Father always keeps His promises!

Isaiah 9:6 says, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given.” Why did God give us His Son? John 3:16 says that it was because God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.”  What happened in Bethlehem that night shows us that God is for us and that He really does love us, so much so, that He gave us His Son. As I shared with the children earlier this week, let’s love like our Heavenly Father taught us. Instead of focussing on what others could do or should do for us, let’s consider how we can give to others. Blessing people materially is great but this kind of giving shouldn’t be limited to money or expensive presents. Now that God’s love is in our hearts, we can give the gifts of patience, kindness, thoughtfulness, friendship, mercy, grace and forgiveness. These are precious gifts that come from the heart just like God’s greatest gift that He gave to us in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago!

There’s Abundance in Your Future

3 Things You Need to Know to See it

“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing? For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:31-33 NASB

#1. You Have a Father

The moment that you put faith in Jesus, confessing Him as your Lord, the Bible teaches that you were born of God. Think of that for a moment. The One who made the sky, the sea and everything that you can see has become your Father! He loves you and He has a plan for your life. He wants you to know today that before you were ever born He knew exactly what you would need and He has already made provision for you in His plan.

In this passage of Scripture, Jesus is teaching us an entirely new way of thinking and living. After the fall of Adam, sin entered the world and death by sin and man began to approach life with a fallen mindset. Men and women began to look to and depend on the creation instead of acknowledging and trusting in the Creator. They sought after and loved things rather than seeking after and loving the God that made them. In other words, the One who created them and gave them life was no longer a part of their picture. They approached life on their own and as they lost sight of the Father, they lost sight of their true purpose.

#2. He Knows What You Need

Jesus brought us life and restored our relationship with God. Now, through Jesus, we know God as our Father and He, the Creator of all things, calls us His very own children. As a child of God, you are not the only one who is aware of the things that you need. Jesus said that the Father also knows the things that you need. So, instead of being fearful and worried about things, He said look to the One who is now your Father. Seek Him, His kingdom and His righteousness and all of these things will be added to you. This is an entirely new way of thinking and living with an entirely new set of priorities. Instead of seeking things, our goal now is to know and walk with the One who made EVERYTHING. He has a plan for our lives and He has provision for us to receive.

#3. You Can Rest in His Faithfulness

Don’t allow the fear of not having enough to control you or make you anxious and discontented. You are not on your own… you have a Father! Live your life with a new awareness of His unlimited supply and see yourself as His beloved child who is ready to receive. The gentiles, those who are outside of a covenant relationship with God, spend their lives seeking things and in so doing miss what life is really all about. We, who are children of God, seek our Father, His will, His kingdom and His ways and ALL that we need and more is added to us! So don’t let fear, anxiety and worry to fill your thoughts. Instead, look to your Father. He is calling you forward into His blessed plan for your life. Trust in Him, rest in His faithfulness and fearlessly do the things He is leading you to do. As you do, you will fulfill your purpose in life and you will experience His grace, peace and abundant provision!

Relentlessly Loved

“God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love.” 1 John 4:8 MSG

Have you ever had a wrong impression of someone?  A time when maybe you thought something about a person but then after you met them you realized they were not at all what you had expected?  I have definitely had those experiences!  Sometimes people can have the wrong idea about who you really are.  Their impression of you could be based on what they have heard others say or on misinformation.  In those instances, don’t you want people to know the truth about who you really are?

Similarly, there are many people today who have the wrong impression of God, where their view of Him has been based on what they have heard others say or on misinformation.  I believe that His desire is that people discover the truth regarding who He really is.  So, how can we find out what’s true about God in order to set the record straight?  Jesus said in the Gospel of John that the Scriptures found in the Bible reveal truth unto us.  In other words, they show us what’s actually real about God!

We see in the Bible that when a person believes in Jesus, their relationship with God changes forever.  They become His child and become the recipient of His love, grace, mercy and goodness.  Sadly, there are many who believe in Jesus but still see God the same way that they used to and, as a result of their wrong impressions, they are not enjoying the amazing new relationship they now have with their Heavenly Father.  Let’s look together at the way God is described in the following verse.

“O God, God of Israel, there is no God like you in the skies above or on the earth below who unswervingly keeps covenant with his servants and relentlessly loves them as they sincerely live in obedience to your way. You kept your word to David my father, your personal word. You did exactly what you promised—every detail.” – 1 Kings 8:23-24 (MSG)

I want to encourage you to allow the Bible to completely redefine your view of who God is.  Now, because of Jesus, He loves you faithfully and relentlessly and He has a good plan for your future.  He has not forgotten about you!  The truth is that His love is an unrelenting force that has been pursuing you.  Let’s decide today to lay aside every wrong impression of God and to get to know Him in a deeper way… according to who He truly is — Love Himself, the God of all grace and the Father of mercies who is relentless in His love for us!

Inspired by Love

“We have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”  1 John 4:16

The love that God has for you is real.  He wants you to discover this love that He has for you and He wants you to believe in it.  As you do, it grows into a motivating force that will inspire you to live life differently and on a higher level.  Notice the following verse.

“Let everything you do be done in love, true love to God and man as inspired by God’s love for us.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14 (AMP)

We see in this verse of scripture that when a person focuses on God’s love for them it inspires something within them… true love for God and for people.  Our love for God is to be a response to His love for us.  The Bible states in 1 John 4:19, “We love him, because he first loved us.”  Notice, He loved us first!  Let’s think about that for a moment.  Before you were born, while you were in your mother’s womb, then as a child and throughout every day of your life since, including today, He has been loving you!  Sadly, many are oblivious to the reality of this love. They may have heard about religious concepts and traditions, but unless they have come to know for themselves this amazing love, their lives will lack the necessary power and inspiration to truly flourish.

So, how do we know that God loves us? Is there any evidence? The answers to those questions are found when an individual discovers the reality of what Jesus has accomplished. In other words, we don’t have to be unsure as to whether or not God truly loves us because He has clearly proven it!

“God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.” – Romans 5:8 (AMP)

“In this the love of God was made manifest (displayed) where we are concerned: in that God sent His Son, the only begotten or unique [Son], into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins. Beloved, if God loved us so very much, we also ought to love one another. No man has at any time [yet] seen God. But if we love one another, God abides (lives and remains) in us and His love (that love which is essentially His) is brought to completion (to its full maturity, runs its full course, is perfected) in us!” – 1 John 4:9-12 (AMP)

This relentless love that has marked your life forever is to be your inspiration for living.  I want to encourage you today that the same God, who created the universe and everything that we can see, knows you and He wants you to know and to be reminded that He loves you right now in this moment.  As you receive His unconditional love today, you will be inspired to live life on a higher level, to walk closer with Him than you ever have before and to love others with the love that you are loved with!
